Limited edition bookplates for an illustrated children’s book launch

The brief

Shortly before the launch of MINA, Matt approached me to turn one of his illustrations into a series of limited edition letterpress bookplates, that he would number and sign. MINA is the story of a book-obsessed mouse living in a colourful world, so the bookplates needed to reflect that.  

The results 

Printing this project was an absolute delight, thanks to Matthew’s adorable illustration of MINA and her father. The bookplates were set to nestle within the endpapers at the front of the book, so the ink colours were matched to a palette of four colours from those very pages. And by using a lighter weight cotton paper stock, the plates acquired a page-like texture, while letterpress printing gave them an authentic, handmade touch.
